Grant writing: Taking on the beast

Researchers often lament the time it takes to prepare grants. However, grant writing can be an opportunity for reflection - it takes stock of how far you've come, and where you want to go, helping identify avenues for exploration and collaboration. Conveying that plan compellingly to both the generalist and specialist reviewer is where I can help. A key balance to strike is between the narrative and technical aspects of storytelling, using language accessible to all.

Project management: Getting things done

As we move towards greater interdisciplinarity in research, projects require juggling several balls at once. I have experience with managing complex projects - coordinating interactions between multiple teams, planning experiments, bridging results, solving technical challenges, building databases, and steaming ahead on multiple fronts. I also assist with manuscript preparation, either editorially or as co-author, and handle reports to funding agencies and stakeholders.

Innovation: Turning knowledge into action

Implementing one's research is often about finding partners to work with, sometimes simply to generate new questions, sometimes to solve existing challenges. To facilitate this process, I connect an expanding, international network of prominent academics, industry partners, and public-sector stakeholders, with a focus on life-sciences. Applications I am familiar with include omics, biomarker discovery, drug discovery, applied AI, cell-, tissue- and clinical-imaging, data science, and app development.

Outreach: Telling the world why we do it

This is the fun part, where we celebrate scientific achievements, get feedback on works in progress, and find connections with the world at large. It's a way to tell everyone why we're doing what we're doing. Towards this, I build websites, slides decks and summaries to appeal to different target audiences (scientists, funders, the public). I also help prepare and review manuscripts and presentations.

IMPORTANTLY...

I maintain strict standards of confidentiality on all intellectual property I am tasked with (NDAs signed upon request). I never upload privileged information onto generative AI systems. Furthermore, I never use AI to generate content, beyond using it for background research. Any deviations from this approach will be explicitly communicated for approval.

PRICING

I offer a first consultation for free, to discuss each project's specific needs. Following that, my standard consultancy fee is 900 SEK per hour (excluding sales taxes and travel costs, if applicable).

For regular consultancy services, early-stage professionals, and public institutions, I offer alternative fee structures and contract types.
